This past February, in working with Thai Dragonfly, I had the opportunity of traveling with 14 other members of Brescia University College to the Baan Dada orphanage. We spent 9 incredible days at the orphanage that will never be forgotten!
Our activities at the orphanage included painting the hall and the girls' room, assisting in the construction of a house, and, most importantly, spending quality time with all the kids! It was thrilling to see how loving and responsive the children were to us after spending just over a week with them. And who knew duck duck goose and jumping over an elastic band could be such fun games!! The kids at Baan Dada taught me a lot about life, such as being thankful for all the little things I frequently take advantage of. They showed me that in a world where we sometimes get lost in all of the tragedy and plight we are presented with day after day, hope really does exists! Dada is a person of immense compassion and because of this is truly an inspiration.
Not only were we taken exceptional care of at the orphanage, especially by the mothers who cooked up some tasty meals, but Dragonfly was with us every step of the way! Thank you Martin, Dan, and Dada for showing us an authentic glimpse of Thailand!
